Be sure to visit the Handmade Detroit instagram account today! We’re taking over.
Shop handmade from home this year. 🛍 There are SO many great makers showing up for the virtual show this year. I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited to get some holiday shopping done and still be able to support local makers.
Handmade Detroit had to get creative this year for DUCF and they killed it. Check out the web site and all the lovely makers selling their swag now through Dec. 6. Plus, visit the DUCF instagram for special events on Fridays and instagram takeovers by all the vendors.
Our instagram takeover over is Sunday, December 6, 9am – 2pm.
Just wrapped up two hot and sticky days at Detroit Maker Faire!
Reusable water balloons were a big, big, BIG success. Yay! I loved watching people test out the water balloons (of course, I had a bowl full of water with balloons in it to try out. I expected all the kids to throw them at each other…. but actually, adults tended to throw them at each other more than the kids. 🤣
I will be participating in Handmade Toledo‘s Maker’s Mart on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Handmade Toledo, 1717 Adams Street in Toledo. See you there!
Weeee! I am so excited!!!! I FINALLY had the chance to try my hand at laser cutting and engraving. This week, I took my fiancé on a date night to Factory Two, the maker space in Flint and it was the best date night idea I’ve had in a long time.
Before heading to the maker space, we stopped for tacos – our go to meal for date nights. Mmm tacos. After our bellies were full of deliciousness, we headed over to Factory Two. There we learned how to use inkscape (the program we would use to draw our projects), saw a few of our friends, learned how to run the laser cutting/engraving machine AND got a tour of the wood shop in the maker space.
The beautifully designed keychain above is what I made. I can’t wait to perfect my art and make a million more of them to hand out to people at market. 😉
People may think that Flint is a struggling community without a lot of resources – and they would be right. But we are also a struggling community with a STRONG arts/maker community. I’m so happy to be a part of that community and I can’t wait to see what everyone does next.
Makers Gonna Make
The Etsy shop had been updated with all of our in stock finished items. I am always thrilled to do customizations and commissions (they challenge me and are really fun to see realized), but for those of you who know and love what we already have in stock, Etsy is the way to go.
I am very happy to announce that we have a new logo! I love this simple but fun and whimsical look of the logo. I like the font and the colors and the style. I can’t wait to put it on everything.
Just a quick note today to say: The Etsy Shop has been re-opened! I continue to learn how to take better photos and the best way to light my space. It’s not perfect, but I’m definitely improving.
Stay crazy. ❤
